Lazio head into the Christmas break with a smile following a confident 3-1 win over Venezia yesterday.

The Biancocelesti took an early lead thanks to Pedro, before Francesco Forte netted an equaliser after half an hour. The Roman club didn’t let this spoil the party, however, and two goals in the second half secured the three points at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.

Below are the two starting lineups in Lazio’s 3-1 win over Venezia:

  • Venezia (4-3-3): Sergio Romero; Tyronne Ebuehi, Mattia Caldara, Pietro Ceccaroni, Pasquale Mazzocchi; Ethan Ampadu, Antonio Vacca, Domen Crnigoj; Mattia Aramu, Francesco Forte, Sofian Kiyine.
  • Lazio (4-3-3): Thomas Strakosha; Adam Marusic, Luiz Felipe, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan Radu; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Danilo Cataldi, Toma Basic; Pedro, Felipe Anderson, Mattia Zaccagni.

Venezia started the match on the front foot but it was Lazio who found an early advantage, with Pedro breaking the deadlock after just three minutes to make it 1-0.

The match was fairly even after this, with both sides pushing to find a goal. Venezia finally succeeded in the 30th minute, with Forte beating Luiz Felipe to find the back of the net to make it 1-1.

It was a balanced and even match going into half time, with both teams sharing a handful of chances.

Lazio started the second half well, with Acerbi finding the back of the net after a Cataldi corner, giving the Roman club a 2-1 lead after 48 minutes.

Both sides continued pushing for another goal, with Venezia not giving up as they fought for an equaliser. Despite their best efforts, however, Lazio’s defence remained strong.

In the 90th minute Tanner Tessmann was sent off after a strong challenge on Luis Alberto, ending his afternoon a few minutes early.

In the dying minutes of the match, Luis Alberto linked up nicely with Milinkovic-Savic and secured the three points for Lazio, scoring the team’s third goal in the 95th minute, just before the final whistle.
