Lazio Won’t Sell Acerbi Despite Statement From Ultras Telling Him to Leave

Lazio have no intention of selling defender Francesco Acerbi despite pressure from the club’s ultras.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the ultras released a statement yesterday condemning the 33-year-old Italian defender, calling him a man without honour and telling him to leave Rome as he is no longer welcome.

The Lazio ultras are still enraged following Acerbi’s ‘shhh’ celebration in the 3-1 win over Genoa last week, despite the fact that he apologised on social media after the game. He was also accused of failing to thank the fans after the win over Venezia on Wednesday.

Whilst the Italian defender has struggled to adapt to coach Maurizio Sarri’s tactical system this season, Lazio still have no plans to sell the player, with president Claudio Lotito not letting the statement influence his decisions.

Contracted to Lazio until 2025, Acerbi has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2146 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists.
