Lazio Star Immobile Included in The Guardian’s Top 100 Players of 2021

Lazio star Ciro Immobile has been included in The Guardian’s Top 100 players of 2021.

As reported by British newspaper The Guardian yesterday, the 31-year-old Italian striker finds himself in 66th spot in the list of the top 100 players of this year, behind fellow Serie A stars like Lorenzo Insigne, Dusan Vlahovic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Lazio star dropped 42 spots compared to 2020; last year, Immobile was in 24th in The Guardian’s 2020 list, despite remaining equally decisive.

Many other Italians were present in the list, given their success in Euro 2020 this summer. The highest rated Serie A player was Federico Chiesa, who is in 17th spot. Behind him are Leonardo Bonucci (22nd), Giorgio Chiellini (24th), Nicolo Barella (26th), Lautaro Martinez (30th), Simon Kjaer and (54th).

It’s likely that Immobile’s spot was so low due to his lacklustre performances with the Azzurri this year, netting only twice in Italy’s run to the Euro 2020 title.
