Flamengo centre back Rodrigo Caio has again been linked with a move to Lazio.
As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the Biancocelesti are not focused on signing a new central defender in next month’s transfer window but are open to strengthening the department.
Rodrigo Caio, who has been linked with a move to Lazio for a number of years now, has again been mentioned by sources in Brazil.
The 28-year-old Brazilian centre back is contracted to Flamengo until 2023 and is currently out injured with a knee issue. He has dual passports, Italian and Brazilian, meaning that he wouldn’t take up a non-EU player slot in the squad.
Lazio have denied any negotiations for Rodrigo Caio but things could change as the January transfer window develops, especially if a deal for Hellas Verona’s Nicolo Casale fails to come off.
Rodrigo Caio has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2708 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist and helped the side keep 12 clean sheets.
