Barcelona Set Sights on Expiring Lazio Defender Luiz Felipe

Barcelona have identified Lazio defender Luiz Felipe as a strong option to strengthen their defence next summer.

As reported by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (via Alfredo Pedulla) yesterday, the Blaugrana are looking to reinforce coach Xavi’s defence in next summer’s transfer window and have set their sights on three potential options.

Two of these three options are Chelsea defenders, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, both of whom have expiring contracts with the Blues next year. The third name on that list is Luiz Felipe, whose contract expires with Lazio in June next year.

Real Betis are also following the 24-year-old Brazilian defender closely and so the Biancocelesti will need to work hard to tie the player down to a new deal soon if they want to keep a hold of the talented centre back.

The 24-year-old Luiz Felipe has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1944 minutes. In that time, he has picked up seven yellow cards and helped the side keep five clean sheets.
