Lazio Would Look to Sign Napoli’s Meret if Strakosha is Sold Next Month

Lazio are interested in signing Napoli’s Alex Meret should goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha leave the club next month.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 26-year-old Albanian goalkeeper does not seem set to renew his contract with the Biancocelesti, which will expire in June next year, and so the club would prefer to sell him in next month’s window.

Should Strakosha be sold next month then Lazio would focus on signing the 24-year-old Meret, who is contracted to Napoli until 2023.

The Italian goalkeeper has no intention of renewing his deal with the Partenopei if he isn’t given the certainty a starting spot, something that the club cannot guarantee. He has only made two Serie A appearances this campaign, playing second fiddle to David Ospina.

No significant progress has been made yet but negotiations could heat up soon should concrete offers arrive for Strakosha from the Premier League.
