Below is Adriana Martin’s statement announcing her departure from Lazio Women:

Hello Lazio fans. After a year and a half it’s time to say goodbye. It has been an honour to wear this shirt every training session and every game, and also to wear the captain’s armband with pride.

I would like to thank the club, my teammates, all the technical staff and also the fans who make up the Lazio family. Thank you all for your support.

Even from afar I will always cheer for the team and I will take with me many incredible memories.

The 35-year-old Adriana Martin was one of the stronger players in the Lazio Women squad; she scored five goals and provided one assist in her 10 Serie A Femminile appearances this season, but her efforts were not enough to help the team kick off their return to the topflight in good fashion.

The Spanish forward was decisive in helping the team return to Serie A Femminile, being a focal point under previous coach Carolina Morace in their Serie B Women campaign last season. She scored 26 goals in 26 matches last campaign.
