Lazio Likely to Miss Out on Deal for Napoli Goalkeeper Meret

Lazio are set to miss out on a deal for Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret as they continue searching for a new number one.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Mattino (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti have been increasingly linked with the 24-year-old Partenopei goalkeeper in recent weeks but now they are likely to miss out on the shot stopper.

Napoli do not want to lose Meret and it seems as if they will reach an agreement to extend his contract in the coming weeks, tying him to the club until 2026.

Lazio could promise Meret a starting spot but unfortunately that might not be enough to convince the 24-year-old Italian to make the move up to Rome.

The Italian goalkeeper, who has been with Napoli since 2019, has made seven appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 630 minutes. In that time, he has conceded nine goals and helped the side keep two clean sheets.
