Lazio Will Not Be Signing Chelsea Goalkeeper Kepa This Month

Chelsea are not planning to let Lazio target Kepa Arrizabalaga leave in this month’s transfer window.

As reported by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà earlier today, the Biancocelesti have been keen to sign the 27-year-old Spanish goalkeeper for some time now, looking to find a reliable number one with their current incumbents Pepe Reina and Thomas Strakosha both having expiring contracts.

Chelsea, however, have no intention of letting Kepa leave this month due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Edouard Mendy will be participating in the competition with Senegal and so the Blues need the Spanish goalkeeper to stay in order to take his place in the squad for the next few weeks.

Lazio will have to wait then if they want to sign Kepa, meaning that they may look for other goalkeepers this month as they search for a replacement for Strakosha and Reina.

The 27-year-old Kepa is contracted to Chelsea until 2025 and has made six appearances so far this season under Thomas Tuchel, keeping three clean sheets and conceding five goals in that time.
