Lazio duo Francesco Acerbi and Luis Alberto are only a step away from returning to the pitch.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the pair have been absent from training since the squad returned from the Christmas break but now the club are optimistic that they’ll be able to return soon.
Acerbi is struggling with a thigh flexor problem, but medical tests carried out yesterday revealed that the recovery is in its final stages.
Regarding Luis Alberto, he remained in isolation for a few days following close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID. However, he could return to the Lazio environment as early as today, preparing for Thursday’s match against Empoli.
The Biancocelesti currently sit 8th in the Serie A table after 19 games, with 31 points. The Roman club have won three of their last five league outings, drawing one and losing the other. A win against Empoli this week would be a great start to the team’s second half of the season.
