Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has given his approval to a possible deal for Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 21-year-old German forward could be a surprise addition to the Biancocelesti squad this month, with sporting director Igli Tare a big fan of the talented youngster.

Sarri has given his approval to a deal for the 21-year-old Burkardt because the German can play as both a centre forward and on the wings in the coach’s 4-3-3 system.

Everything depends on the outgoing market, however, with Vedat Muriqi in particular being the main player who Lazio are looking to re-home in this month’s transfer window.
Valued at around €15 million, Burkardt has made 17 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, for a total of 1278 minutes. In that time, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists, being one of the bright young stars in the German top flight.
