Unneeded Lazio Defender Vavro on the Verge of Joining Huesca

Unneeded Lazio defender Denis Vavro is only a step away from returning to Spanish side Huesca.

As reported by Spanish media outlet Radiohuesca.com yesterday, the 25-year-old Slovakian defender is set to re-join the La Liga 2 side in this month’s transfer window, with the Biancocelesti looking to free up space in their squad.

Lazio preferred to sell Vavro to a higher quality team but the need to lower the wage bill and free up space in order to bring in reinforcements has pushed them to accept the Huesca move quickly.

The 25-year-old Vavro, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, did not impress coach Maurizio Sarri in the pre-season training camp last summer and so he has not made a single appearance in Rome this season.

He has hardly even been in the match day squad, only sitting on the bench nine times in the league. The Slovakian defender cost the Biancocelesti around €10 million back in the summer of 2019.
