Divock Origi has become Lazio’s first choice to strengthen their forward line in this month’s transfer window.

As reported by British news outlet Sky Sports yesterday and highlighted by Il Tempo recently, the Biancocelesti are seriously interested in signing the 26-year-old Belgian forward this month, believing him to be the perfect backup for star striker Ciro Immobile.

Liverpool value Origi at around €6-7 million, a high price for a player whose contract expires in only six months. The player himself would prefer a move within the Premier League – with Newcastle United particularly keen – but he wouldn’t rule out a move to Serie A either.

Lazio are continuing to closely monitor the situation and if the club can find a buyer for unneeded Kosovan forward Vedat Muriqi, they can look to pull the trigger on a deal. They are facing competition from two other Italian clubs, however.

The 26-year-old Origi, who joined Liverpool in 2014, has made 10 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 393 minutes. In that time, he has scored five goals and provided two assists.
