Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi will undergo a new round of medical tests on Monday next week.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 33-year-old Italian centre back is on the sidelines after suffering a flexor injury in the 3-3 draw against Empoli on Thursday, coming off painfully after the opening 20 minutes.

Acerbi will undergo a round of medical tests next week on Monday and Lazio fear that he’s picked up a serious injury, which could keep him sidelined for around 35-40 days.

Rumours are also starting to emerge that the 33-year-old Italian defender could leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, with AC Milan reportedly interested in acquiring him. It’s still too early to understand the seriousness of this interest, however.
Acerbi was booed off by the Lazio fans during the match against Empoli, still not being forgiven following his ‘shhh’ celebration in the win against Genoa before the Christmas break.
