Lazio Expect Acerbi to Be Sidelined With Muscle Injury for at Least a Month

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is likely to be out of action for a month after suffering a muscle injury.

As highlighted by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 last night, the 33-year-old Italian defender suffered a second-degree muscle injury in the 3-3 draw with Empoli last week, being taken off after only 25 minutes after clutching his hamstring.

Acerbi predictably missed Lazio’s loss to Inter on the weekend and now the latest tests have suggested that he’ll be sidelined for around a month, meaning he’ll miss the matches against Salernitana, Udinese, Atalanta and Fiorentina.

The 33-year-old Italian defender is having a difficult season. He has struggled to adapt to Maurizio Sarri’s system and he has now fallen out with the fans following his ‘shh’ celebration before the Christmas break.

Acerbi has made 24 appearances across all competitions this season for Lazio, for a total of 2081 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists.
