Thomas Strakosha will not renew his contract with Lazio, forcing the club to begin their search for a replacement.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today, the 26-year-old Albanian shot-stopper has decided to leave the Biancocelesti on a free transfer at the end of the season, leaving the Roman club without a number one.

Empoli’s Vicario Is Lazio’s Number One Target in Search for a New Goalkeeper

Lazio are beginning their search for a new goalkeeper and the hottest names currently are Cagliari’s Alessio Cragno and Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario. Both will cost over €10 million, so it will not be a cheap fix for the Biancocelesti.

Napoli’s Alex Meret has been linked with Lazio a number of times in recent months, but a deal has never been close.

The Biancocelesti are also still interested in Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, but a move would be very expensive, even if they signed him on loan.

Strakosha is able to sign a pre-contract with his new club from next week onwards when the January transfer window closes.

  1. We do have a big problem: De Vrij, Strakosha, Felipe Luiz, even Patric. How come we can’t capitalize the market potential of these players? At a first glance we can talk about 120 mio in loss. Add what we spent on Fares, Jonny, Durmissi, Muriqi and we will have the full spectre of who we are now.
