Muriqi Bids Farewell to Lazio: “I Could Not Show You the Real Vedat Well Enough”

Vedat Muriqi wished Lazio well and reflected on his disappointment with his poor performances following his move to Mallorca.

As seen in a post on Muriqi’s Twitter page yesterday, the 27-year-old Kosovan forward has joined La Liga side Mallorca on a €1 million loan deal with a €12 million buy option attached. He will be hoping for consistent playing time as he looks to relaunch his career.

Muriqi bid farewell to the Lazio fans following his move to Mallorca, thanking them for their support.

I would like to thank the true Lazio fans for the trust, support and respect they have given to me. Unfortunately, I could not show you the real Vedat well enough on the field.

Thank you very much for making Rome our home for me and my family and for reflecting your love to us. My heart and support will be with you for the rest of the league. With love.

The 27-year-old Muriqi, who is still contracted to Lazio until 2025, made 49 appearances for the club since his arrival in September 2020, for a total of 1566 minutes. In that time, he scored two goals and provided two assists, failing to find his footing in the Italian capital.

He did not convince coach Maurizio Sarri this season, who was desperate for a new backup striker, and he finally finalise his loan move to Mallorca with only hours to spare in the transfer window.
