Lazio Find Defensive Solidity Without Acerbi Following Important Clean Sheet Run

Lazio have finally managed to string a run of clean sheets together, but only with Francesco Acerbi stuck on the sidelines.

The Biancocelesti have started 2022 in strong fashion, keeping four consecutive clean sheets across all competitions heading into tomorrow’s Coppa Italia quarter-finals against Milan. In the first 19 league games of the campaign, the Roman club only picked up two clean sheets in total.

Now, with Acerbi out injured due to a hamstring issue, Lazio have picked up four consecutive clean sheets, beating Salernitana and Fiorentina comfortably in the league, progressing past Udinese in the cup, and having a goalless draw against Atalanta.

Lazio’s Probable Starting Lineup vs Milan: Rotations for Coppa Italia Clash

The 33-year-old Acerbi fell out with the Biancocelesti faithful earlier this season – the former Sassuolo man pulled out a ‘shh’ celebration after scoring against Genoa before Christmas, in response to the recent criticisms levied against him. This did little to impress Lazio fans, with the ultras releasing a statement telling him to leave Rome.

Acerbi is still out with this hamstring injury and he will not feature against Milan tomorrow, which could prove to be a good omen for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
