Lazio Defender Acerbi Entering Final Stages of Recovery, Still in Doubt for Porto Clash

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is still out injured but he is set to return to squad training soon.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 34-year-old Italian defender has been stuck on the sidelines injured following a muscle problem suffered in the 3-3 draw with Empoli at the start of this year.

Following the latest round of tests, Acerbi has been given the green light to start intensifying his training sessions and so he could return to squad training either at the end of this season or the start of next.

Therefore, Acerbi will definitely miss Lazio’s upcoming match against Bologna and he’s also in doubt for next week’s Europa League clash against Porto.

Acerbi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2025, has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2081 minutes. In that time, he’s scored three goals and provided two assists.
