Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was bitterly disappointed with the team’s performance in last night’s 4-0 loss to Milan.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset (via LazioNews24) after the match, the 63-year-old Italian coach first reacted to the loss against the Rossoneri.
We were switched off, I hope the problem is physical because if it’s mental it’s worrying. It was a period in which we’d been playing well but tonight we returned to our old faults.
I expected some difficulties tonight but I expected a different performance seeing as we were brilliant.
I’m left with a bitter taste in my mouth and perplexed by this match, let’s hope we pick ourselves up right away.
The Lazio coach highlighted that he stills feels as if the Coppa Italia is one of the most unsportsmanlike cups in football.
I don’t like the format of the Coppa Italia, but this has nothing to do with the match. The most watched domestic cup in the world is the FA Cup where everyone plays, all rounds.
The draw is live on television, it’s a beautiful moment, that gives the competition a unique charm. I don’t like the format of this one.

He touched on the injury to star striker Ciro Immobile; the 31-year-old Italian striker limped off the pitch in the 68th minute after kicking Pierre Kalulu whilst trying to take a shot.
Immobile had a strong blow to the instep, we hope to recover him immediately.
Finally, Sarri discussed his various teams and what makes his Lazio tick.
Every team has different characteristics. This is a good team but from the point of view of dribbling my Napoli were superior.
We have to find our dimension, we were coming from good performances while tonight we went backwards.
Lazio will have to pick themselves back up ahead of their next match against Bologna on Saturday afternoon.
The Biancocelesti currently sit 6th in the Serie A table, four points behind 5th place Atalanta, and so a win against Bologna is crucial if they want to fight for a European spot.
