Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri had a long meeting with president Claudio Lotito following the 4-0 loss to Milan.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sera (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti president was very unimpressed with what he saw at the San Siro on Wednesday night, and so he had a lengthy discussion with the coach to discuss the situation.
Both Lotito and Sarri were surprised by the nature of Lazio’s defeat to Milan, and the Biancocelesti president wanted answers. Sarri tried to point to the lack of signings in January, but Lotito wasn’t interested in that excuse, despite only signing Jovane Cabral from Sporting.
The relationship between the pair remains good and the project is still going ahead as planned, but extending Sarri’s contract until 2025 is no longer a priority for either party at this point. Sarri is focusing on improving the team, whilst Lotito wants an immediate response against Bologna tomorrow.
