Leiva Suspended for Lazio’s Upcoming Serie A Clash Against Udinese

Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva is disqualified for the upcoming match against Udinese due to a yellow-card suspension.

The 35-year-old Brazilian midfielder picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the Biancocelesti’s 3-0 win over Bologna on Saturday, meaning that he’ll be forced to miss the next league match against the Bianconeri this weekend.

The former Liverpool man has mostly lost his starting spot in the Lazio squad to Danilo Cataldi this season, with coach Maurizio Sarri placing an increasing amount of trust in the Italian midfielder.

Leiva, whose contract expires with the Biancocelesti at the end of this season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1443 minutes. In that time, he’s helped the side keep six clean sheets.

It’s likely that the Brazilian midfielder will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of this campaign, after his contract expires.
