Lazio Open Talks With PSG for On-Loan Goalkeeper Sergio Rico

Lazio have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain for goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, Thomas Strakosha will not renew his contract with the Biancocelesti, so the club are working to find a new number one ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sporting director Igli Tare has highlighted the 28-year-old Rico as a possible option. The Spaniard, who is contracted to PSG until 2024, is currently on loan at RCD Mallorca, working with former Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi.

The Ligue 1 side value Rico at around €4 million, but current indications suggest that a deal could be agreed for as low as €2.5 million. As such, talks between the two clubs have already started, with coach Maurizio Sarri giving a green light to the move.

Rico joined Mallorca on loan last month after making only one PSG appearance this season. Considering that he’s behind Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order, it’s hardly a surprise that he isn’t a regular feature in the French capital.
