Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni Was the Best Italian Player in Matchday 25 of Serie A

The FIGC highlighted Mattia Zaccagni as the best Italian player in Serie A this weekend, following his performance in Lazio’s win over Bologna.

As seen in a post on the FIGC’s website earlier today, the 26-year-old Biancocelesti midfielder was the Italian Most Valuable Player for the 25th Serie A gameday, according to stats provided by Opta.

Zaccagni was the star of the show in Lazio’s win over Bologna; he won the penalty in the 13th minute and scored a brace in the second half of the match, bringing his season goal tally to six goals in 19 matches.

The former Hellas Verona man scored two goals from two shots, intercepted two balls and provided two crosses.

The Italian midfielder initially struggled to settle in Rome after his transfer from the Gialloblu last summer, dealing with hamstring and knee injuries. After finally recovering, he has begun to show his best under coach Maurizio Sarri, being a consistent and exciting attacking threat.
