Lazio president Claudio Lotito is working personally on the deal for Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via TuttoMercatoWeb) yesterday, the Biancocelesti president is working hard to try and bring the Italian defender to Rome on a free transfer in the summer, after his contract expires with the Rossoneri.

Lotito likes the idea of signing Romagnoli a lot and so is working on the deal personally. He is confident that Lazio can beat out Juventus, who have also been linked with the defender.

Milan’s latest contract renewal offer to the 27-year-old Italian defender is a deal worth €2.8 million net per season plus add-ons, and for now Romagnoli is not keen to accept the deal. He is a childhood fan of Lazio and this could help facilitate a move to the Italian capital.

The 27-year-old Romagnoli has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1699 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal, provided one assist and helped the side keep nine clean sheets.
