Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi has finally returned to squad training, meaning his return to action is close.
As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 34-year-old Italian defender took part in yesterday’s squad training session, the first time since he suffered his injury back on 6th January in the match against Empoli.

Coach Maurizio Sarri now has to decide whether or not Acerbi is fit enough to take part in Lazio’s Europa League clash against Porto on Thursday. If not, he could start in the match against Napoli on the weekend, with tomorrow’s training session proving decisive.

Acerbi is incredibly keen to return to action after over six weeks of being stuck on the sidelines. He has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2081 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists, helping the side keep six clean sheets.
