New Lazio signing Jovane Cabral will be given his first start for the club in the upcoming match against Porto, giving him a chance to impress.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the suspension to Mattia Zaccagni and injury to Pedro means that Maurizio Sarri will start the 23-year-old Cape Verdean winger in the upcoming game against Porto.

Jovane played 66 minutes as a false nine in Lazio’s 1-1 draw with Udinese on the weekend and looked positive, so now he has a real shot at impressing his new club and fans on Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 23-year-old previously played for Sporting, which makes the Porto clash a derby for the player. He has faced them six times in the past, winning once, drawing three times and losing twice. He’s scored two goals against them, both coming in the semi-finals of the Allianz Cup last season.
