Lazio have decided that they don’t want to lose Thomas Strakosha on a free transfer in the summer and so contract renewal negotiations will begin soon.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 26-year-old Albanian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Biancocelesti at the end of this season and for the majority of this season he’s seemed destined to depart in the summer.

Strakosha has been consistently winning coach Maurizio Sarri’s trust over the last few months and now Lazio want to confirm the long-time servant, so they’re set to open contract renewal talks in the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old Albanian goalkeeper, who joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2012, has made 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1800 minutes. In that time, he’s conceded 20 goals and kept eight clean sheets, seemingly returning to his best form after taking back his starting spot.
