Acerbi Moving Increasingly Closer to Lazio Departure in the Summer

Francesco Acerbi was booed when making his Lazio return against Napoli and a departure in the summer looks increasingly likely.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Curva Nord were unhappy to see the 33-year-old Italian defender back on the pitch in the loss to the Partenopei on the weekend, whistling and booing him.

Talks between Lazio and Acerbi’s entourage have already begun and the club made it clear that they’d be willing to let him leave at the end of the season should a reasonable offer arrive, which is estimated to be around €5 million.

His €2.5 million salary and contract lasting until 2025 make Acerbi a relatively expensive veteran defender and his departure could allow the team to reinvigorate their defence a little, especially if Patric and Luiz Felipe leave on free transfers as well.

Acerbi missed six consecutive league matches due to a hamstring injury, finally returning in the 2-1 loss to Napoli on Sunday.
