Ahead of Lazio vs Napoli, the Biancocelesti players took to the pitch for their warm-up at the Stadio Olimpico with a prominent message. They were wearing a t-shirt that featured the words ‘STOP THE WAR’ and the Ukraine flag.
Players, clubs and fans around the world united to call for the end of the conflict in Ukraine, with Lazio being one of many to do so. Some of the other teams included West Ham, Everton, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Watford, and Leeds United in the Premier League, and Milan, Sampdoria, Atalanta, Napoli, Cagliari, and Udinese in Serie A.

Russia and Ukraine have been at war since February 24, 2022, when Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale military invasion into the country. Since then, the conflict has reportedly caused over one hundred civilian casualties and pushed tens of thousands of Ukrainians to flee to neighbouring countries.
