Sassuolo do not want to let Lazio target Maxime Lopez leave in the summer and they’ve put a high price tag on him.
As reported by Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com earlier today, the 24-year-old Frenchman is one of the stronger players in the Neroverdi squad this season, shining in his defensive midfielder role.
Lazio are looking for a replacement for Lucas Leiva and have identified Lopez as a strong option, but he may be difficult to pry away from Sassuolo, who officially signed him from Olympique Marseille last year.
The Neroverdi want €20 million for the 24-year-old French midfielder, a high price that Lazio are unlikely to pay in the summer as they focus on revitalising their defence instead.
Lopez, who is contracted to Sassuolo until 2025, has made 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2372 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal and helped the side keep four clean sheets.
