Lazio’s Leaky Defence Is a Major Concern for Coach Sarri

Maurizio Sarri is majorly concerned about Lazio’s defence and the number of goals that they concede.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Roman club have conceded 42 goals in the league so far this campaign, being the main obstacle hampering their growth and development.

Porto Midfielder Vitinha Tops Lazio’s List of Summer Transfer Targets

Lazio’s attack is running smoothly, 54 goals scored so far, but never in Sarri’s history has he had to deal with such a leaky defence.

Lazio’s Talks With Tottenham Goalkeeper Gollini’s Agent Progressing Positively

In the first few months of the season, it took the players longer than expected to change from a three-man system to a four-man defence. The fact that five defensive players now have contracts expiring in the summer (Thomas Strakosha, Adam Marusic, Patric, Luiz Felipe and Pepe Reina) certainly doesn’t help things.

In the upcoming summer transfer window Lazio and Sarri will look to strengthen their defence with a number of reinforcements, with the top options still being Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli and Hellas Verona’s Nicolo Casale.

  1. Should sell patric and luis Felipe is gone.. if they can get both casale and romagnoli and keep acerbi the d can be solidified

    1. Agreed but I think even Acerbi could move on this summer. Needs to be a full reset in the backline, including the goalkeepers.

    2. no chance of Feilpe re-signing? I like Felipe a lot. My heart wants to see Felipe and Romagnoli partner next year. Casale added for rotation

      1. Very unlikely. Would be good to see a core of Romagnoli-Luiz Felipe-Casale in the center of our backline but we’ll have to wait and see.
