Adam Marusic was sent off in Lazio’s 3-0 win over Cagliari yesterday, meaning that he’ll miss the upcoming match against Venezia.
As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 29-year-old Montenegrin full back was already on a warning heading into the match, having picked up four yellow cards prior to the game against Cagliari.
Marusic was booked in the first half, meaning that he’d be suspended for the Venezia game, but then he received a second yellow card near the end of the match, bringing his evening to a close early.
Acerbi’s Return to Lazio Squad Risks Upsetting Defensive Stability
The rules are clear in regards to Marusic’s situation. If a player who has been booked gets a red card, they remain on a warning and will miss the next league game. This means that the Montenegrin full back will be available for Lazio’s derby against Roma, but he’ll have to be careful to avoid a booking.
Marusic has made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2585 minutes. In that time, he’s proven himself to be a reliable and tactically flexible option under Maurizio Sarri.
