Lazio Primavera suffered a disastrous 3-1 loss to Cesena on the weekend, giving up top spot in the Primavera 2 table.

As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, Alessandro Calori’s team quickly fell three goals down to their opponents at the Centro Sportivo Alberto Rognoni in Cesena, going into the half-time break with a 3-0 scoreline.

Lazio Primavera tried to respond in the second half but Marco Bertini’s 50th minute penalty was not enough to claw back some points away from home.

The defeat means that Cesena have now overtaken the Roman club in the Primavera 2 table, rising to the top with 40 points, two ahead of Calori’s team.

Finishing second means that Lazio would need to get through a play-off in order to secure a spot in the topflight again.
