Serie A Respond to Lazio’s Request to Wear Captain’s Armband Dedicated to Wilson

Lega Serie A have given Lazio the green light to wear a captain’s armband dedicated to former captain Pino Wilson, who sadly passed away on the weekend.

Wilson was the captain of Lazio’s Scudetto winning side in the 1973/74 season, making him one of the most important players in the club’s history. He spent 11 years of his career with the Biancocelesti from 1969 to 1980, making 296 Serie A appearances in total.

As reported by journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via LazioNews24) earlier today, Lazio will be allowed to wear a red captain’s armband in their upcoming match against Venezia in honour of Wilson, who sadly passed away on Sunday morning aged 76 after suffering a stroke in bed.

Immobile will wear the armband as usual, symbolic of the Biancocelesti’s new era. There will also be a minute of silence in remembrance of the former Italy defender as well as a general mood of mourning at the Stadio Olimpico.
