Denis Vavro highlighted his happiness at FC Copenhagen and revealed that he has no intention of returning to Lazio.
The 25-year-old Slovakian centre back was signed by the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2019 from the Danish side in a deal worth around €10 million. He never lived up to expectation in Rome and quickly found himself relegated to the reserves, hardly playing a match. He re-joined Copenhagen in the January transfer window.
Speaking to TV 2 Sport (via LazioNews24), Vavro first discussed his mentality following the return to FC Copenhagen.
I am happy to be back in Copenhagen. When I first arrived at FCK, I had never seen 20,000 people in a stadium. And now they are shouting my name.
The Lazio owned defender commented on the pressure felt before every match and how it impacts him.
It’s probably the fear of making a mistake or losing the game. I don’t know. I’m nervous before every game. There’s pressure from outside. And from the staff.
You just have to play, play and play, they say. I really want to play, but sometimes something happens in my head.
I’m afraid of making a mistake or losing the ball and then I throw it away or something. It’s only the first ten minutes, then it passes.
Finally, Vavro discussed his future and his intention not to return to Italy in the future.
My heart only beats for FCK now. I hope to stay here maybe for another year. I want to stay here at FCK. Maybe another two years. I won’t go back to Italy.
In January, before the international break, they called and said there were several offers from Italy. But I said no, because I don’t like Italy.
I will never stay in Italy. Why not? Because I want to stay in Copenhagen.
In his two-and-a-half years with Lazio, Vavro made 21 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 878 minutes. He never contributed to a goal and his defensive performances always left a little to be desired.
