Zaccagni Is Lazio’s Best Player of 2022 So Far After Incredible Start to the Year

Mattia Zaccagni has been Lazio’s most dangerous weapon so far in 2022, playing a key role in the team’s upswing in form.

The 26-year-old Italian midfielder initially struggled after arriving from Hellas Verona last summer, dealing with hamstring and knee issues. After finally finding his footing in Rome, he has quickly become one of Maurizio Sarri’s favourite players.

In 2022, only Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi has served up more assists than the former Hellas Verona man and in the Lazio squad no-one has been fouled more than Zaccagni, a sign of his importance to the team.

Zaccagni has made 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1982 minutes. In that time, he’s scored seven goals and provided seven assists.
