Today’s Derby della Capitale could be the last for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who could be sold in the summer.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder is one of the standout stars in Maurizio Sarri’s squad in Rome, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 28 Serie A appearances this season. He is continuing to prove that he’s one of the best midfielders in Europe, even if he still puts in some inconsistent performances every now and then.

Lazio’s Expected Starting Lineup for Derby vs Roma: Sarri to Pick Strong XI

Sarri wants Lazio to sign a number of new first team players in the summer in order to continue his project in the Italian capital and the sale of the Serbian midfielder would certainly fund this.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are all incredibly keen to sign Milinkovic-Savic, but they’ll need to match the €100 million requested by president Claudio Lotito.

  1. This seems like a wise course to me. First things first, Sergei is a Lazio legend and will rightly be a part of our history both on and off the field. If Lazio only needed 1-2 players I would keep him and form the team around him, but we need at least 5-6 players and €100 million war chest would help recruit those players. At 27 Sergej is approaching his prime and playing for one of the biggest teams in the world will add medals to his collection which any player wants and deserves.
