Roma Coach Mourinho: ‘There’s No Doubt Who Deserves the Win’

Jose Mourinho called for respect for Roma’s Derby della Capitale win over Lazio yesterday.

The Giallorossi pulled off an incredible 3-0 win over the Biancocelesti yesterday evening thanks to first half goals from Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Maurizio Sarri’s side collapsed after the Englishman’s first minute strike and they failed to get back into the match.

Speaking to DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the game, Mourinho first reacted to the derby win over Lazio.

Great performance. The win against Atalanta was very solid, today was special because it seemed like everything we planned the players put on the pitch.

We deserved it against an opponent that in the second half tried to get a different result. We were in control and there’s no doubt who deserves the win.

Mourinho revealed that he was not a fan of the Olè chants coming from the crowd during the match, calling for respect.

I don’t like “Olè” and when the players interpret “Olè” in the wrong way. Because maybe the players think the game is over.

Respect is beautiful, we can score 3-4-5 goals but always with respect for the opponent.

The Roma coach was happy with Abraham’s performance but he wasn’t all positive.

I don’t agree when you say that Abraham is fantastic because I know him and I know he is.

I want a lot from Abraham, I’m not just talking about goals, I’m talking about attitude.

He touched on the race for the final Champions League spot in Serie A this season.

In the league it seems obvious to me that the top four will finish like this, I don’t see any of the others who can finish fifth.

The others Atalanta, Lazio, Roma and Fiorentina will finish between fifth and eighth. Finishing fifth or finishing eighth makes a difference, let’s see how we finish.

Finally, Mourinho discussed the upcoming World Cup play-offs. Italy and Portugal are in the same bracket, so only one of them can qualify for the tournament in Qatar.

Turkey and Macedonia, we cannot forget them. Turkey will be a difficult game for us.

I won’t be neutral, I love Italy and I thank Italy but come on Portugal and let’s go to the World Cup.
