Rumours From Spain Link Lazio With a Possible Move for Manchester United’s De Gea

Lazio have been linked with a possible move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as they look to find a replacement for the outgoing Thomas Strakosha.

The Biancocelesti need to sign at least one shot-stopper in the summer as both Strakosha and Pepe Reina’s contracts expire at the end of June. Many players have already been linked with the Roman club like Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, but now a new name has been mentioned.

According to Spanish media outlet Fichajes.net (via LazioNews24), sporting director Igli Tare is incredibly keen to sign De Gea in the summer, believing him to be the right fit for Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio.

The 31-year-old Spaniard’s contract expires with Manchester United in 2023 and contract renewal talks are not progressing quickly, given that his current salary is close to €15 million net per season.

It is difficult to imagine Lazio signing De Gea in the summer though, given their issues with the liquidity index and the need to reinforce the squad in a number of positions.
