Lazio Unlikely to Activate Sporting Loanee Jovane Cabral’s Buy Option

Lazio are unlikely to make Jovane Cabral’s stay in the Italian capital permanent following an unconvincing loan move.

The 23-year-old Cape Verdean winger joined the Biancocelesti on a six-month loan deal with an €8 million buy option back in the January transfer window from Sporting, being the only true reinforcement of the month for Maurizio Sarri.

As reported by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), Lazio don’t seem willing to pay €8 million to keep Jovane following an unconvincing start in Rome. He has only played 72 minutes of action so far and isn’t suitable to play as a backup to Ciro Immobile.

Sarri Keen to Add Porto Midfielder Vitinha to His Lazio Side

Lazio could become stuck with him, however. The deal could become mandatory should Cabral collect at least 10 appearances of 45 minutes each.

His addition in January was a little strange following the departure of Vedat Muriqi, as it was clear that Lazio needed a new centre forward to provide Immobile with some cover. The arrival of a winger puzzled fans and Sarri alike.
