The former couldn’t make the difference in Italy’s World Cup play-off against North Macedonia on Thursday, allowing them to scrape a late winner to knock the Azzurri out of contention. The latter was called up but was not included for the squad, forcing him to remain on the sidelines as Italy missed out on another World Cup.
