Newcastle United are seriously interested in Thomas Strakosha, who’ll be a free agent in the summer after his contract expires with Lazio.
The 27-year-old Albanian shot stopper has not yet agreed to renew his contract with the Biancocelesti over concerns regarding his playing time in the Italian capital under coach Maurizio Sarri. He has only made 15 league starts this campaign, frustrating for a player whose been with the Roman club since 2012.
As reported by Spanish media outlet Fichajes (via LazioNews24), Newcastle have identified Strakosha as the perfect reinforcement to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The club are planning to overhaul their squad and so picking up the Albanian on a free transfer is a smart piece of business. Updates are expected over the coming months, especially as Lazio are still interested in renewing his deal.
Strakosha has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2070 minutes. In that time, he’s conceded 23 goals and kept 10 clean sheets.
