Maurizio Sarri will have another meeting with Lazio’s management as they prepare to discuss his contract renewal and the summer transfer window.
Yesterday’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo helped calm the storm clouds gathering in Formello following the disastrous Derby della Capitale defeat to Roma before the intentional break. The three points are key in the race for European qualification this campaign.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Sarri will meet with Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare in Formello on Wednesday, where they’ll discuss the coach’s contract renewal and the strategies for the summer transfer window.
Achieving European qualification makes a big difference to both topics, so the parties will weigh up a number of options depending on how the season finishes.
Sarri’s current contract expires with Lazio in 2023 and there’s currently a clause included that would allow himself to join a foreign club in the summer, something that Lotito would like to remove sooner rather than later.
