Patric is set to leave Lazio on a free transfer in the summer but Maurizio Sarri is pushing to change that.
The 28-year-old Spaniard again impressed in the Biancocelesti’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo on Saturday, where Italian coach called him “underrated” and highlighted his consistent performances. He has proven himself to be a tactically flexible and reliable option this campaign.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Sarri wants Lazio to offer a contract renewal to Patric in a bid to keep a hold of the Spaniard, believing him to be an important part of the squad in Rome.
Lazio have won 50% of the 24 matches that have featured Patric this season, winning 12 and losing five. His future is currently being discussed in the Biancocelesti environment, but the club cannot afford to take too long.
The Spaniard was very close to joining Valencia in the January transfer window before he was convinced to stay until the end of the season. The Spanish side are set to return for him once his contract expires in the summer, so the Roman club need to decide quickly if they want to extend his stay in the Italian capital.
