Jovane Cabral to Return to Sporting After Failing to Convince Lazio

Jovane Cabral’s adventure with Lazio is almost certainly over as a return to Sporting draws closer.

The Biancocelesti signed the 23-year-old Cape Verdean winger on a six-month loan deal with an €8 million buy option back in January on transfer deadline day. It was a confusing move, with many expecting the club to pick up a backup centre forward instead following Vedat Muriqi’s departure.

As reported by A Bola (via LazioNews24), Lazio have no intention on making Jovane’s stay in Rome permanent and so he’ll return to Sporting in the summer, failing to convince Maurizio Sarri.

The option to buy Jovane would become an obligation to buy should he play at least 45 minutes in 10 matches, something which will certainly be avoided now.

The move appeared to be a panic buy by sporting director Igli Tare in January and it’s the latest in an ever-growing list of confusing signings, something which reportedly concerns Sarri.
