Strakosha to Hit Appearance Milestone With Lazio in Clash vs Genoa

Thomas Strakosha is close to rising up the ranks of Lazio’s goalkeeper appearance records.

The 27-year-old Albanian shot stopper has re-found his starting spot in the Italian capital under Maurizio Sarri this season, displacing Pepe Reina. Despite the fact that he’s the number one again, he has not put pen to paper on a contract renewal and he’s set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

As reported by LazioNews24, Strakosha will make his 202nd Lazio appearance in their upcoming game against Genoa, matching the number of appearances made by Scudetto winner Felipe Puilci.

Strakosha’s 202nd appearance will see him rise to 5th place on the all-time list of appearances made as Lazio goalkeeper, tying Puilci, who won the 1973-74 league title in Rome.

Ahead of Strakosha is Angelo Peruzzi with 226, Ezio Sclavi with 227, Idilio Chi with 292 and Luca Marchegiani, who tops the list with 339 appearances.

The Albanian shot stopper could be the player to break Marchegiani’s record, although it would require at least three more seasons to pull off.
