Lazio picked up a confident 4-1 win over Genoa this afternoon thanks to a Ciro Immobile masterclass.
The 32-year-old Italian striker netted a hat-trick to drive the Biancocelesti home to a victory, a key result as Maurizio Sarri’s side fight for European qualification in the final stage of the season. Immobile has now leapfrogged Dusan Vlahovic in the Serie A Capocannoniere rankings, with 24 goals to his name.
Lazio were mostly in control from the outset and they finally broke the deadlock in the 31st minute thanks to an incredible goal from Adam Marusic, justifying Sarri’s trust in him. Just before the half ended, a great Manuel Lazzari run ended in Immobile’s first of the afternoon, giving the Roman club a 2-0 lead going into the break.
The second half was fairly similar to the first and despite a Patric own goal in the 68th minute, Lazio remained in the driving seat. Two goals in the final 30 minutes of the match secured the three points for Sarri’s side and ended Immobile’s afternoon in the best possible way.
