Ciro Immobile has a number of goalscoring objectives he’s looking to hit before the end of this season.
The 32-year-old Italian striker has clear goals for the end of this season, starting with qualification for the Europa League, which has important implications for the upcoming summer transfer window. He also has a few personal records that he’d like to hit.
As detailed by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Immobile’s first goal is to reach Quagliarella’s tally of 180 Serie A goals, just one more than the Lazio star’s 179. Fiorentina legend Gabriel Batistuta is just ahead of the pair with 184 goals and he could also be overtaken.
Immobile is also aiming to become the Capocannoniere for the fourth time, something that legends like Giuseppe Meazza, Michel Platini, Giuseppe Signori and Gigi Riva failed to achieve. Only Gunnar Nordahl has done better, winning five times and boasting a better goal-to-game ratio than the Lazio striker (0.77 to 0.62).
Finally, in Europe’s top five leagues since his arrival at Lazio in 2016, Immobile is third overall for goals scored. He has netted 147 league goals since the start of the 2016-17 campaign, with only Lionel Messi (165) and Robert Lewandowski (188) ahead of him.
