Lazio want to convince Maurizio Sarri to keep Thomas Strakosha but the coach is unconvinced.
The 27-year-old Albanian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Roman club at the end of this season and the Biancocelesti’s management are keen to tie him down to a new deal. He lost his starting spot to Pepe Reina in recent years but has since earnt it back under Sarr this season.
As reported by Il Tempo and La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Strakosha is tempted by a move to the Premier League but first wants to discuss his future with Lazio. Igli Tare and Claudio Lotito would like to extend his stay in the Italian capital, but Sarri is unconvinced.
The 63-year-old Italian coach is expecting a significant squad overhaul in the summer and a new goalkeeper is on his wish list, but he could still be convinced to trust Strakosha, who has been with Lazio for a decade now. The next few weeks will be decisive for both the player and the club.
